Why diets really don’t work!
Not surprisingly now that over half the population are conscious that they are overweight, there are plenty of people happy to cash in and slimming and slimming products have become big business.
Get thin fast remedies are on every page of every magazine it seems, and there are a whole host of “quick” or “pain free fixes” are on the market.
On top of this you could add any number of the latest fad diets and the unlimited supply of slimming snacks, drinks and even get thin gum, just waiting to take your cash!
Slimming and diets are big business, however sadly they don’t work, and often there’s a hefty price to pay.
“Lose ten pounds in a week!”
Next time you see one of these claims, just ask yourself ‘ten pounds of what?’ It’s only physically possible to lose between one and a half to two pounds of fat in a week, and you don’t want to lose anything else!
If you adopt a crash diet, and suddenly cut your food intake dramatically (which a lot of diets recommend), your body may assume there’s a famine on the way and start saving your precious fat stores by burning muscle instead. Added to this, you will probably lose a lot of water and glucose, making your weight drop dramatically, and making you think everything is just fine.
However, things won’t be just fine at all, in fact, the combination of the water loss, and the muscle tissues that you have lost, is very, very bad news indeed and could really impact on you not only physically but also pyschologically!

Do you really need to keep striving?
Going with the flow…
Bit of a mixed bag this week.
Been a great week mixed with highs and lows which for me is a little strange because in the main it’s usually mostly highs and a lot of it is to do with my mindset and how I approach things.
So it got me to thinking about looking at and reevaluating my processes as the ideal way, for me at least is to have more highs than lows.
At first I couldn’t put my finger on it, and then as I thought more and more about it and the answer seemed to be less and less forthcoming the more frustrated I was becoming!
Power breathing in the mornings, working out regularly, taking positive action on a daily basis and simply following through which is and has always been just part of my natural lifestyle.
Then it came to me almost unconsciously as I was taking in a few rays.
You don’t always have to be doing or always have to feel on top of the world.
Some days are meant to be mellower than others and not as exciting or as fulfilling, for if every day was a constant high, how would we know the difference between a low spot and a high spot, a great day and a not so great day?
I’ve finally come to realise that I’m not an android and some days or weeks you just have to go with the flow!

Clean out your home, clean out your mind!
What a fantastic morning!
I’ve spent the entire morning cleaning, vacuuming, polishing, changing covers and cleaning out all those hard to see and get to places and I’ve been amazed in not only how much the energy has now changed around my home and the enormous “buzz” it now has, but just as importantly how satisfied and empowered I actually feel from what could be considered mundane chores!
Apart from a lovely fragrance and clean and ordered look around the place it actually looks and feels different.
The energy is flowing and it’s almost as though the place has come alive and taken on a whole new personality.
Wowser!
It’s lifted my spirits and given me a happy feeling and at this moment to add to the pure pleasure and joy, I’m listening to one of my favourite internet radio stations and “freaking out” to some good old fashioned Rock n Roll” and prancing around like a teenager!
Go baby go!
Music and movement are also so easily overlooked and it makes you realise that everything you really need in your life to feel good is within your own reach!
It’s so easy to forget how the simple things in life can fill your soul with joy and happiness as you get caught up in everyday life but the beauty of what I’ve discovered today is part of your “everyday life”, amazing isn’t it?
This weekend instead of “soul searching” or running around like a “loony” find something incredibly simple to do, like maybe drawing a picture, taking a walk, listening to your favourite music or maybe just cooking a great meal.
